Designer Antoine Vandewoude is self-taught, with a passion for clay and improvisation. His work is collected by clients from the worlds of fashion and art. His new Pique-Fleurs collection for Serax consists of Pique-Fleurs vases and a candleholder — each object an ode to chance and imperfection. The form is organic, playful and dyed a deep red. This shade, also known as sang de boeuf or oxblood, was prized in ancient China for the difficulty of its making. This larger version is generous enough to hold abundant floral arrangements. The candleholder from the same collection is a variant of the Pique-Fleur and pairs with it perfectly — candles and flowers always make a beautiful whole.
